The Story

55% Cinsault, 35% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep red with a hint of violet, aromas of red fruits, blackcurrant, blueberry, mature red cherries, with a hint of dried fruits and nuts. A fruity attack, with smooth tannins, and a nice acidity that gives freshness to this young wine.

2021 harvest was a return to the “good old days” where everything went like clockwork and no extreme conditions. The wine was blended in Spring 2022 and bottled the same year in early Summer. Made in small production, this blend is representative of the Tempranillo grape imbedded in the Chateau Musar blendings.

Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, to know Chateau Musar takes an understanding of terroir, of natural winemaking, of human nature and of history. All of these factors have a powerful influence over the way Musar’s wine appears in the glass – how it tastes, smells, lives, breathes and changes. The story of Musar’s survival during the Lebanese civil war of 1975 to 1990 is well documented. It was a formative time for wine and for its creator, Serge Hochar, who was only just beginning to trust his grapes (as he famously said) to ‘become what they wanted to be.’

Levantine de Musar refers to the wine’s source, the Levant, a region centered around modern Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, and Jordan.
