Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey honors the world’s first-known African American master distiller, Nearest Green. The distillery's current master distiller is 5th generation Green descendant Victoria Eady Butler. Victoria was named Master Blender of the Year by Whisky Magazine for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022 as well as receiving the same honor from The Spirits Business and Vinepair in 2021.
